Dennis W. Cluff, 47, of Brookings, Ore. has been named as the new city manager for Clinton City.

Mayor A. DeMar Mitchell said Cluff was selected from among 60 applicants by the City Council following a nation-wide search that started in April. He will begin his duties on July 18."He's very well-qualified. We feel really good about him," Mitchell said.

Cluff has a master's degree in public administration from Brigham Young University, with an emphasis on personnel. He's married, has five children and is currently serving as the city manager for Brookings, a coastal city of about 5,000 people near the California border. Clinton has just over 8,000 residents.

Mitchell said Cluff and the council are still working out details on salary.

Clinton has been without a full-time city manager since last March when Patrick Sorensen resigned after only seven months because of differences with city leaders.
