Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, likes to roar about Utah, and showed his pride Wednesday by hosting a lunch for other Republican senators catered by the Lion House in Salt Lake City.
"As a member of the Lion House, I have spent many pleasant afternoons dining in the Lion House gardens," Bennett said. "I am delighted to share Utah home cooking with my colleagues and am sure they will enjoy the Lion House's menu as much as I do."He treated the "Wednesday Lunch Group" of 31 Republican senators to dishes that included Utah snow peas, chocolate cheesecake with Bear Lake raspberries, Lion House truffles and Lion House root beer.
Each member of the group takes turns hosting the lunch, and each usually tries to spotlight home-state delicacies. This time Bennett used the Lion House - the former home of Brigham Young. At an earlier lunch, he offered food provided by the Utah Farm Bureau.
At Wednesday's lunch, Bennett also gave other senators Franklin Quest pens. Bennett once headed that fast-growing day planner company, which made him a multimillionaire. He still serves on its board of directors.
