United Airlines could carry Sun Valley-bound skiers to the Twin Falls airport next winter.

Negotiations with the airport board were not finalized on Tuesday, said Chuck Webb, Sun Valley Co. assistant general manager. United Airlines has the proposed contract and should respond soon, he said. The flights would originate in Chicago and Los Angeles, he said. The service is mainly for skiers; the Boeing 737s will run only on Saturdays during the ski season.

Airlines such as Alaska and Continental have offered the service in past winters, said Ron Madsen, Twin Falls-Sun Valley Regional Airport manager. The change of airlines usually occurs because of "price shopping," he said.

The Twin Falls airport is used because the Hailey airport is often snowed-in during winter.
