Leonardo da Vinci's 500-year-old musings on why the sky is blue are for sale, along with his designs for the snorkel and the submarine.

The Italian artist's manuscript is expected to fetch more than $10 million when it is auctioned at Christie's in New York on Nov. 11, said Liete Eichorn, an auction house spokeswoman. The manuscript, compiled between 1506 and 1508 in Florence and Milan, was sold in 1980 to the late oilman Armand Hammer for $5.6 million - still a record price for an autographed manuscript. The Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center in Los Angeles is selling it.
