A Layton man was bound over to district court for trial Wednesday in the kidnapping and sexual assault of two girls early Tuesday morning in Woods Cross.
Gary E. Hamblin, 28, waived his preliminary hearing in circuit court and Judge S. Mark Johnson ordered him bound over to 2nd District Court on the felony charges.Hamblin is charged with kidnapping 17- and 18-year-old girls just after 1 a.m. Tuesday in North Salt Lake.
Police said he hid in the back of their van. When they entered after getting off work, Hamblin ordered them to drive to a nearby shopping center parking lot, where he told them to disrobe.
A private security guard at the center investigated the van and, according to police, saw Hamblin and the two teenage girls inside.
Hamblin is charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, both first-degree felonies, and two counts of forcible sexual abuse, both second-degree felonies.
Johnson ordered Hamblin's bail reduced from $60,000 to $35,000.
