O.J. Simpson is not a violent person and he did not kill his ex-wife and her friend, said Paula Barbieri, a close friend who was with Simpson the night before the murders.
Barbieri said she had talked with Simpson on the phone frequently since his arrest last Friday and that he is getting "stronger.""I do want to get this across, he's not a violent person," Barbieri told Diane Sawyer in an interview on ABC's "PrimeTime Live." "He's never, ever hit me."
Barbieri, a 27-year-old model and actress, said she isn't romantically involved with Simpson, but that the two had been friends since Simpson and his wife, Nicole, divorced in 1992.
Simpson mentioned Barbieri in a letter read on television last Friday before he surrendered.
The night before the killings, Simpson and Barbieri were photographed together and "we looked like the epitome of happiness," she said.
