Most companies might celebrate their 100th anniversary with an extravagant party. But American Express Personal Financial Planning will commemorate its centennial by taking simultaneous hikes to the highest points in all 50 states Wednesday.

In Utah, that means a 13-member hiking team will climb Kings Peak - 13,528 feet above sea level - in the High Uintas. Included in the group will be three American Express financial planners from the Salt Lake office.American Express, founded in 1894 as IDS Financial Services in Minneapolis, chose the group hikes because they require the formula and skills necessary for a team approach - not unlike the team created between a planner and client.
