Saturday was certified by the National Weather Service as being the hottest day of the year in Utah and, at 102, the hottest on record for June 25 in Salt Lake City.

Temperatures across the state ranged from 97 degrees in Cedar City to 108 degrees in St. George.Salt Lake reached 102 degrees, while temperatures in Provo reached 99 degrees. Ogden reported the mercury rising to an even 100.

At least two people attending a country-western music concert at the Utah State Fairpark were transported to area hospitals and treated for mild heat exhaustion, a Salt Lake City fire dispatcher said.

An NWS spokesman said today's temperatures should cool to 96 because of a mild north wind.
