Jacob was born Aug. 19, 1982. He is a member of the Rosebud Sioux tribe.

He likes cars, Ninja turtles, board games, collecting baseball cards and going to movies. Biking, hiking and roller skating are favorite outdoor activities. As a fourth-grader, Jacob reads and spells at a fifth-grade level and is working at grade level in math.

Jacob was born prematurely with alcohol withdrawal. He was adopted at 26 months, but his mother asked to have him removed from her home in the fall of 1992. He has mild cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol effects and takes medication at bedtime to help with bladder control.

Although he prefers to play by himself, he is learning to interact with other children.

Jacob's social worker finds him affectionate and eager to please. He seems to be able to attach and trust some adults.

He has a low frustration level, especially at school, and can be aggressive and destructive under stress. He does respond to clear limits and consistent consequences.

An American Indian family is needed for Jacob. He will be slow to trust a new family, but he's anxious to know where his life is going.

Continuing individual and family counseling will help him adjust to his adoptive home.

Financial assistance is available.
