Southern Utah University heads the list as Utah's fastest growing institution of higher learning, posting a 10.5 percent enrollment increase in the 1993-94 academic year.

According to information released Wednesday by the state Board of Regents, other institutions with substantial enrollment growth were Salt Lake Community College, 7.45 percent; Utah Valley State College, 7.37 percent; College of Eastern Utah, 7.28 percent; Dixie College, 6.05 percent; and Utah State University, 4.73 percent.Enrollment at the University of Utah and Weber State University declined by less than 1 percent, likely due to stricter admission standards, said Regents spokeswoman Patricia Crane.

Southern Utah University's growth occurred even as the university was imposing new admission standards that cut one out of every 10 applicants.
