Beijing police set fire to piles of seized drugs Sunday to mark International Anti-Drug Abuse Day. At least 59 people were executed for drug-related crimes and dozens more were sentenced to death. Executions and burnings are held annually on and before June 26 to publicize the government's determination to tackle China's growing drug problem. China has become a conduit for smuggling from the drug-producing region in Thailand, Burma and Laos known as the "Golden Triangle."
