On Friday, June 24, 1994, Anna Hvalic Spencer died of a heart attack at age 70.

Anna was born to Anna and Francesco Hvalic on November 14, 1923, in Cernice, Italy. After World War II, Anna met an American Army officer named Kenneth P. Spencer. They were married on August 26, 1949. After years of travel together, they eventually settled down in Utah, and it was here Anna spent the rest of her life. It was also here that Anna lived to see her son's marriage, her grandchild's birth, and her husband's death. She faced all that happened in her life with courage.

Anna spent her life always willing to give love, both to humans and animals, and was faithful to the Roman Catholic Church even when attending mass became impossible for her.

Despite illness, Anna still loved to talk, laugh and smile. It is that smile we will miss most of all.

In America, Anna is survived by her son, Franklin; daughter-in-law, Sherri; and granddaughter, Megan. She is also survived by her sister, Lydia; brother, Rado; brother-in-law, Luigi and their families in Slovenia.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 1994, at 9 a.m., at St. Vincent Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, Holladay, with a viewing beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, Murray. Interment at Murray City Cemetery.
