Our loving friend, Paul Avery Beck, 62, passed away peacefully in his home on June 26, 1994, of a brain tumor.
Born February 14, 1932, in Centerfield, Utah to Avery T. and Elvona Sorenson Beck. Married his high school sweetheart, MarJean Fonnesbeck, September 14, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple.Survived by: His loving wife, MarJean, Bountiful; sons, Jeffrey Paul (Debbie), Centerville; and Jason James (Jacqueline), Salt Lake City; daughters, Beverly Naegle (David), Pleasanton, Calif.; Lisa Bostwick (Darrel), Salt Lake City; Minday Higgins (Myke), Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren; brothers, Sherman, Stephen and James Beck; sister, Judy Johnson. Preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Foerster; children, Peter Avery and Polly; and grandson, Kai Higgins.
Known for his kindness and his dedicated service in the LDS Church, he was a beloved bishop from 1971 to 1977. His love of people, gentle sense of humor, joy in music, and whimsical poetry endeared him to family members, friends, and neighbors.
As a BYU graduate in accounting, he loved details, working with numbers, and provided skilled record-keeping for employers and church, fulfilling many assignments as Ward and Stake Clerk and Executive Secretary of the Bountiful Heights Stake. He worked for many years in Logan, Utah as office manager for Cache Valley Breeding Association. Moving to Bountiful in 1967, he worked for Deseret Livestock, United Feeds, Inc., TransAlaska Seafood, and most recently N.P.S. in Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 1994, at 12 noon, at the Bountiful 18th Ward, 165 So. 1000 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Tuesday, June 28, 1994, at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 No. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, from 7 to 9 p.m., or Wednesday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Bountiful Cemetery.
