A woman who was taking her garbage out said she was abducted at knifepoint over the weekend but escaped the man's attempt to rape her.

The 22-year-old woman said she was taking her garbage can to the street Saturday evening when a vehicle pulled up and a man got out. The man grabbed the woman's arm, pulled out a knife and held it to her throat, a Salt Lake County sheriff's report states. The man said, "Come into the car slowly or I'll kill you right now." The woman told investigators she got into the car and he drove to a convenience store. He warned her not to leave while he went inside.

The woman, however, left the car and tried to call a relative for help, but said the man returned and again held a knife to her throat and ordered her back to the car, the report states.

The suspect drove the woman to Harmony Park, where he tried to rape her. The woman kicked him in the groin and was able to run away until she came in contact with a business security officer, who called the sheriff's office.
