A Bountiful woman was shot in the shoulder Monday after her boyfriend got into an argument with another man and the man shot her and then shot up his own stereo.

An attempt-to-locate bulletin was issued for the man, and someone matching his discription was arrested without incident about 3 a.m. Tuesday after pulling into a store at 4300 W. 3500 South. The Bountiful woman, 20, was wounded as she sat in her car at 3236 S. 4250 West. She was treated at Pioneer Valley Hospital and released.

Her boyfriend, 26, Kearns, told police he went to the residence about 9:20 p.m. to speak with an acquaintance. He and the man's roommate got into an argument and he walked toward the woman's car to leave.

Another man, 40, West Valley, witnessed the argument and walked over to the boyfriend, threatened him with a beer glass, then apparently pulled a gun from his waistband and fired one round into the car, hitting the woman, according to police.

Her boyfriend jumped into the car and the couple sped away to the hospital, where they called police.

Witnesses reported hearing the shot and the boyfriend yell "Don't do it," a police report says. Moments after the shooting, a friend of the gunman went over to his house and the West Valley man threatened him with a .22-caliber pistol, telling him to get out. After leaving, he heard a pop and returned to find the gunman had shot up a stereo, the report says.
