STOP AND PUT LIGHT IN RIGHT SPOT

SHARE STOP AND PUT LIGHT IN RIGHT SPOT

I read with great interest that a study is currently being done to figure out why the intersection in Centerville at the frontage road is such a problem. Several years ago, my neighbors and I watched in amazement as the current red light was placed at the top of the freeway on Parrish Lane. We debated whether to stop and tell the workers they were putting it in the wrong place. The amount of traffic to and from West Bountiful does not warrant a stoplight there. The problem is all the fast food and gas stations on the frontage road.

I've been told they can't put two lights that close together. That's simply not true. We have traveled all across the country and seen many traffic lights that close. Or, you could just move the light down to the frontage road . . . if someone in the red tape department would admit that a mistake had been made. The local residents scratched their heads in wonder when the light was put in on Parrish and 400 West - that street doesn't even go through.

Let's try a third time and put a light on the frontage road, where it should have been put originally - and do it before another bad accident happens this summer. Forget your expensive studies. Just ask the local taxpayers and voters who have to risk their lives on the two busiest streets in Centerville where the traffic light is needed - please.
