Auditions have been scheduled for the following local and regional stage productions:
- PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. at Desert Star Playhouse, 4861 S. State, Murray, for the melodramatic parody of the classic horror tale.Directed by Edward J. Gryska, there are parts for five men and three women. There will be cold readings from the script. Please have a short musical number prepared.
Performances are Sept. 16-Nov. 12.
- EDEN CREEK, on Wednesday, June 8, from 7 until 10 p.m. at the Realms of Inquiry private school, 1140 S. 900 East, for the Metro Theatre Works production of Dwight Watson's drama.
According to Mikal Troy Klee, MTW's artisitic director, there are speaking roles for six women, ages 16-50, and non-speaking roles for male and female actors from 12 through 50. All roles require singing ability (come prepared to sing eight bars of "Amazing Grace" a capella.) There will also be cold readings from the script for the speaking roles.
Rehearsals begin June 15 and "Eden Creek" performances will begin July 15.
- NUNSENSE on Saturday, June 4, at 9 a.m. and Tuesday, June 7, at 7 p.m. at the Heritage Theatre, 2502 S. Highway 89, Perry.
The show, directed by Scott Nelson, requires five women, age 16 and up. The production, running July 15-Aug. 6, will open the Heritage Theatre's 25th season.
All roles are open. Auditioners must demonstrate vocal ability, and some dancing is required.
- YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU on Saturday, June 11, at the Hale Center Theater, 225 W. 400 North, Orem.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy is about a family of loveable eccentrics.
Ron Jewett is directing. Roles are open for men and women of a variety of ethnic origins, preferably black. All interested auditioners should call the theater at 226-8600 to schedule an appointment.
The comedy is scheduled to run July 28-Sept. 19.
