A ninth-inning triple by Chris Hatcher led the Tucson Toros to a 4-3 victory over Tacoma Thursday night in Tacoma, Wash.
The score was tied 2-2 after eight innings. Juan Guerrero led off the ninth for the Toros with a bad-hop single, was sacrificed to second and scored when Hatcher hit his drive over Tacoma center fielder Eric Fox. Hatcher then scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Dave Hajek.Tacoma battled back in the bottom of the ninth when Marcos Armas hit a home run to lead off the inning. Tucson right-hander Jim Dougherty then retired the next three Tacoma batters to register his second victory against three losses.
Phoenix 3, Las Vegas 1
At Scottsdale, Ariz., Phoenix hurler Brad Brink held Las Vegas to one run as the Firebirds beat the Stars to gain a fourth straight win.
Brink (3-4) scattered six hits over eight innings.
Mark Leonard drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the sixth inning that scored Steve Hecht.
Albuquerque 5, Edmonton 2
At Albuquerque, N.M., catcher Tom Prince drove in four runs, including two on his ninth home run of the season, leading Albuquerque over Edmonton.
Dukes starter Jose Parra (5-5) won for the third time in his last four decisions. He struck out six batters in six innings.
