Smokers claim that the damage they are causing, if there is any damage, is just to themselves. This is not true. The EPA has established that secondhand cigarette smoke is a human carcinogen. It was also ascertained that the childhood risk of asthma, bronchitis, middle-ear infections and pneumonia are increased by secondary smoke.
It sounds extreme, but adults who smoke around children should be prosecuted for attempted murder. The tobacco industries claim there is no real proof that smoking kills or is linked to the many diseases that the EPA and the surgeon general claim smoking causes. This is funny because the tobacco industry owns three life insurance companies. These companies charge smokers nearly double that of nonsmokers for term insurance.
The money they make is worth far more to them than the lives of the smokers. It's a sad day in our history when people can legally kill for money.
