Pianist Robert Nakea will perform a benefit concert Saturday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Peteetneet Academy of the Arts.
Nakea is currently pursuing his doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance at the University of Illinois. He has received a number of awards including first prize in the University of Illinois' Tchaikovsky Memorial Competition. Nakea has performed with more than half a dozen orchestras, among them, the Honolulu Symphony, the Windward Symphony of Hawaii and the Salt Lake Symphony.This June, Nakea will be one of 66 competitors invited to compete in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition. During the benefit concert he will perform Sonata No. 23 in F Minor, Op. 57 ("Appassionata"), by Ludwig van Beethoven
Tickets are $3 for the general public and all proceeds will go toward the Peteetneet Preservation/
