A prison inmate who was beaten with a shower scrub brush was hospitalized for four days until he was released Thursday.

The inmate was taken by helicopter to University Hospital Sunday night after another inmate apparently hit him over the head several times with a 24-inch brush the inmates use to shower with, a Salt Lake County sheriff's report states. The incident occurred in the Young Adult Correctional Facility at the Point of the Mountain.

The assault may have begun over an argument about someone taking a piece of wire attached to a headphone. Witnesses said the suspect attacked Sean McFadden as he was getting out of the shower and continued to hit him with the brush as he was lying on the floor.

The suspect later told investigators, "Well, he made me mad," according to the report.
