Hugh O'Brian goes William Shatner one better this weekend.

Shatner, of course, is still playing Capt. James Kirk in a seventh movie some 25 years after "Star Trek" was canceled - and 28 years after it debuted. But this weekend, O'Brian returns as Wyatt Earp in a new TV moive - a role he began playing almost four decades ago.

O'Brian's "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp" ran from 1955-61 on ABC. Saturday night on CBS (8 p.m., Ch. 5) he returns to the role in "Wyatt Earp: Return to Tombstone." And he brings parts of that old series with him.

"Return to Tombstone" is a new adventure, set in 1914 and featuring not only the present-day O'Brian but Bruce Boxleitner and Bo Hopkins. But the movie also contains numerous clips of the old series - conveniently colorized to make the flashbacks less jarring.
