- Honorary doctor of human letters degree from College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons in Los Angeles, Calif., June 15, 1951.

- Honorary doctor of laws degree from University of Utah, June 9, 1953.

- Honorary doctor of agriculture degree from Iowa State College (now Iowa State University), June 12, 1953.

- Honorary doctor of agriculture degree from Michigan State College (now Michigan State University), Feb. 10, 1955.

- Honorary doctor of public service degree from Brigham Young University, June 2, 1955.

- Honorary doctor of laws degree from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, June 18, 1955.

- Honorary doctor of science degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., Oct. 6, 1955.

- Honorary doctor of laws degree from University of Maine, June 10, 1956.

- Honorary doctor of laws degree from University of Hawaii, March 22, 1957.

- Honorary doctor of laws degree from Utah State University, June 7, 1958.

- Honorary doctor of laws degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Rutherford, N.Y., Feb. 20, 1959.

- Honorary doctor of science degree from University of Rhode Island, May 14, 1960.
