Gilbert Eugene Lee, former Utah resident, died 3 June 1994 in Provo, Utah.
He was the son of Otto and Nina Williamson Lee, born 21 March, 1919 in Bingham Canyon, Utah. He attended grade and high school in Utah. He earned a BS degree from the University of Nebraska and an MS degree from University of Southern California. Gilbert was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He enlisted in 1942 and his distinguished career included duty in theaters of three major wars. He retired in Syracuse, New York, in 1979, after 36-1/2 years of service.Col. Lee served in a number of positions in NATO Regional Headquarters, and as Deputy Secretary, and Executive to the Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in the Pentagon. Among Col. Lee's many medals are the bronze star, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, The Meritorious Service Medal and The Air Force Commendation Medal.
Gilbert left Syracuse in 1994 to return to Utah because of illness. He is survived by Margaret Lee Fugal, of Sandy; Kenneth and Maxine Lee Dahlberg, of Provo; Niece, Carol; Nephews, Lee, Brent, Ken and David.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6, 1994 at 11:00 am, at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North in Orem. Interment, East Lawn Memorial Hills.
