A 46-year-old man was in critical condition late Saturday after he fell out of a tree earlier in the day, an LDS Hospital nursing supervisor said.

The man, name and address unavailable, was climbing a tree near 2900 West and 2920 South when he apparently slipped and fell, a Valley Emergency Communications Center dispatcher said. The man was airlifted to LDS Hospital, suffering heavy trauma to the head. It was not clear why he was climbing the tree.
