The Provo City Cemetery will reopen today at 5 p.m. for the collection of Memorial Day decorations.
The cemetery has been closed since the older tree-lined section of the cemetery was severely damaged during last week's windstorm. Only foot traffic will be allowed inside that area of the cemetery for the next few days while cleanup efforts continue.Vehicle traffic will be allowed in the treeless, lawn section, which houses the new veterans memorial. Cars may enter through the veterans gate.
The cemetery will remove all decorations left at grave sites on Monday, June 13. Unclaimed decorations that are in good condition will be placed behind the garages for a short time. All others will be discarded. Residents may bring a rake or other implements to clean up grave sites.
Residents are asked to limit their cleanup to debris scattered by the storm and removal of personal decorations.
