ESCALANTE STUDENT WINS GARFIELD LOGO CONTEST

SHARE ESCALANTE STUDENT WINS GARFIELD LOGO CONTEST

A logo envisioned and artistically produced by an Escalante High School student will be used in connection with Garfield County's state centennial program.

Amy Wheeler was judged as having the best entry and will receive a $400 savings bond.Winners were also named in the logo contest from each grade level in the county, each to receive a $50 bond.

Youngsters at Bryce Valley School in Tropic captured the four prizes in the lowest grades while contest entries from students at Escalante High School won competition among the five highest grades. Students at Escalante and Panguitch elementary schools and the Panguitch Middle School were also among the winners.

The winners and grades are: Hayes Mecham, kindergarten, Bryce Valley; BowDee Woodgeard, first grade, Bryce Valley; Rye Ramsay, second, Bryce Valley; Dixie Thompson, third, Bryce Valley; Emily Mathews, fourth, Panguitch Elementary; Tyler McLemore, fifth, Escalante Elementary; Yolanda Pollock, sixth, Bryce Valley.

Also, Josh Pollock, seventh, Panguitch Middle School; Nicole Cottam, eighth, Escalante High School; Afton Venuti, 10th, Escalante High; Dusty Sorenson, 11th, Escalante High; and Jolene Lyman, 12th, Escalante High.
