Fortunately, the voters in the Second Congressional District are smart, are informed and will keep Karen Shepherd in Congress, despite Craig Metcalf's protestations (Forum, May 25).
Mr. Metcalf is obviously in that group of only a few Utahns who make above $140,000 a year and therefore paid more taxes this April. Or perhaps he is doing so well in his chosen profession that he made more money last year and therefore paid more taxes. A burgeoning economy must have done very well by him. He obviously is not one of the more than 80,000 Utahns who got tax relief under the new law. They thank Shepherd for her vote that helped make that possible. Please get your facts straight. Shepherd does not support the so-called single payer plan which is government takeover of the health-care system. She does support Roe vs. Wade, which is the law of the land, and she does believe that all women are entitled to the comprehensive health care that private insurance now provides.
