Leone Evans Cannon, 96, died June 4, 1994 of causes incidental to age.
She was born in Salt Lake City of Chauncey Levi and Christine Jensen Evans. She is the last survivor of six children, born March 21, 1898. She graduated from LDS High School, attended Utah State University and graduated from the University of Utah. She was a member of Sorosis and Chi Omega sororities. She taught home economics at Bryant Junior High School.On June 12, 1928 she married Abram H. Cannon in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1931 they moved to Washington, D.C., where they resided until their return in 1978. While there, she was active in the Crittenden Society, The Times Club and in the LDS Church, where she held various positions. She was a member of the Fine Arts Club in Salt Lake City.
Her husband and a grandchild preceded her in death. She is survived by children, David Evans Cannon and wife, Lynn, Conway, South Carolina; Thomas Wells Cannon and wife, Barbara, Milford, New Jersey; and Kathleen Cannon Knowlton and husband, Joseph, Salt Lake City; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Hills II Ward Chapel, 1455 South 17th East. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and Saturday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the ward prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
