Citizens will be put to work during the next few months solving traffic problems at the community college, defining the use of the Senior Friendship Center and working out the logistics for a station that will serve several types of transportation.
Three ad hoc committees were created Tuesday by the City Council.The committee designated to prepare a master traffic plan for Utah Valley State College will include a resident living on or about 800 South and west of 400 West, a resident on or about 400 West between 800 South and 1300 South, a Utah Department of Transportation representative, a council representative, a member of the city staff, a Utah Transit Authority representative and a college representative.
They will be asked to prepare both a master traffic and parking plan for the campus area generally bordered by 800 South on the north, 400 West on the east, 1300 South on the south and 1200 West.
Their recommendation will be due before Sept. 13.
The group called to study the placement and potential of transportation terminal will be asked to have a report ready by November.
That committee will include the mayor, a City Council representative and representatives from the Utah Transit Authority, the Utah Department of Transportation, Utah Valley State College, Mountainlands Association of Governments and the Utah Valley Transportation Committee.
The ad hoc committee created to recommend a strategic plan of programs and uses for the Senior Friendship Center will include at least three senior citizens and two city council members. The city manager will send a designee and one citizen at large will be called to serve.
The committee will be asked to review programs and community purposes for the larger, redesigned center that replaces one destroyed by fire in 1993.
Their recommendations will be presented to the council by Oct. 25.
