The city's Redevelopment Agency, composed of the mayor and City Council, wants a new business community in the city's south end. The agency recently passed resolutions for an economic development area near 700 S. Main.
The approximately 100 acres include the north Freeport Center area.H. Kay Chandler, Clearfield's economic development director, said no one has publicly disapproved of the RDA area. In fact, the city has received three letters supporting the redevelopment plan.
"The Freeport Center is considering building some new buildings here," Chandler said.
Since the project does not include any blight areas, the city also cannot condemn any property in the area.
