Joe Montana and the Fox network both get their first expanded work of the summer tonight.

Montana, making his first start of the preseason, is scheduled to see extensive action when his Kansas City Chiefs play the Washington Redskins at RFK Stadium.Montana, who finished last season as the AFC's second-leading passer, played just two series against Minnesota in Tokyo on Saturday in his only previous preseason game.

Fox, meanwhile, will kick off its coverage of the NFL when Denver plays at San Francisco in one of three NFL exhibition games tonight. It's a first for Fox, which won a bidding war late last year for the privilege of televising NFL games.

In tonight's other preseason game, Buffalo plays at Atlanta.

The preseason schedule continues with 10 games on Saturday. It's the New York Giants vs. San Diego at Berlin, Los Angeles Raiders at Pittsburgh, Detroit at Cleveland, Indianapolis at Cincinnati, New York Jets at Philadelphia, Miami vs. Green Bay at Milwaukee, New Orleans at Minnesota, Chicago at Arizona, Tampa Bay at Seattle and New England at Los Angeles Rams.

Cardinals

Former All-Pro linebacker Wilber Marshall reportedly will rejoin his former coach, Buddy Ryan, and sign with Arizona.

The team also is set to sign its first-round draft choice, Jamir Miller of UCLA, according to published reports today.

Steelers

With Gary Anderson's holdout entering its third week, Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher suggests he's nearly ready to go looking for some fresh kickers.

Rams

Safety Deral Boykin did not practice Thursday, a day after needing six stitches to close a cut in his head caused by a fight during the Los Angeles Rams' practice.

Boykin was hit by a helmet swung by offensive tackle Darryl Ashmore on Wednesday.

The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Rodney Culver on Thursday, leaving Jason Belser and Kerry Cash, who both started last season, as the only holdouts missing from training camp.
