Fireworks will still be OK in Orem, at least for the next year, if they're discharged between 7 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.
"We've done some checking and we're prohibited from taking any action," said acting city manager Jim Reams. "State law allows fireworks to be discharged three days before, on the day of and three days after July 4, July 24, January 1 and the Chinese New Year."LuDean Beebe had earlier complained to the council about fireworks set off in her neighborhood that she felt were unsafe and bothersome.
Beebe had hoped the city could ban fireworks within city limits except at public displays and events.

Reams said the city may enforce the noise ordinance, which prohibits disturbing the common peace between 10:30 p.m. and 7 a.m.
