Members of the Salt Lake Fire Department's new technical rescue team demonstrate their newly acquired rescue skills. The group is the most highly trained professional rescue team in Utah, said Capt. Dan Andrus.Other agencies' teams are often volunteers who serve on an on-call basis. Twenty-three firefighters have spent several weeks learning rescue skills, including high-angle (mountain) and confined-space rescue. Team members will do triple duty as firefighters, paramedics and rescue specialists.
