Brian Kelly is going out with a bang.
Kelly, a fireworks worker from suburban Detroit who died two weeks ago of complications from intestinal surgery, asked that his ashes be spread across the sky in a fireworks explosion. He will get his wish Friday night at a convention of fireworks experts in SNPJ, a town about 40 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
As part of the convention's grand finale, a shell carrying Kelly's ashes will be launched to the blast of a 21-gun salute. His relatives will be watching.
