Daniel Joseph McHugh, born December 29, 1909, died of pneumonia on August 11, 1994.

He was born in Chicago, Ill. and eventually moved to Southern California. Married Mary Magdalen Naughton on Dec. 28, 1940. Dan was a national bank examiner, then enlisted in the Navy at the outbreak of World War II. He continued serving in the Naval Reserves, retiring after 20 years with the rank of Commander. He also worked for the State Department serving four overseas assignments. Later he was employed by the F.A.A., retiring in 1973.Dan was always generous and wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off his back. He gave us the best of everything, expecting only that we do our best in return. Dan was a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Jim and Mike and daughter-in-law, Loretta; granddaughter, Christine, all living in the Salt Lake City area; a brother, Jack, of Texas. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Genevieve.

Friends may call Sunday 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East with a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass, Monday, 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9757 South 1700 East.
