Israel and Syria are negotiating a time frame for a full Israeli withdrawal from the disputed Golan Heights, an Israeli television station reported Friday.
The report on Channel Two also said Syrian President Hafez Assad has agreed to a peace treaty with Israel.Israeli-Syrian peace talks have stalled over the Golan, a strategic plateau Israel seized from Syria in the 1967 Middle East war. Assad has insisted that Israel commit to a full withdrawal, while Israel demands that Syria specify the peace it is offering before territory is discussed.
