A Broadway musical, an audience-participation mystery (minus dinner), a down-home comedy and a children's classic are on the agenda for theatergoers this week.- BRIGADOON, long regarded as one of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's most beautiful musicals, opens Friday, Aug. 19, at the Pages Lane Theatre in Centerville, where it continues through Oct. 8.

Co-directed by Ralph Rodgers and Sue Jarrard, the cast includes Carol Nelson and Kathi Pike alternating in the role of Fiona, the Scottish lass who steals the heart of Tommy . . . played alternately by Steve Evans and Dave Petersen.

Others in the double-cast ensemble include Dave Madsen and Nick Cash as Jeff; Emily Morgan and Kim Madsen as Jean; Dan Morgan and Mark Whitlock as Charlie; Alison Stagg-Pratt and Alison Jensen as Meg, and John Morgan and Ken Bills as Brigadoon's schoolteacher and wise leader.

Performances will be Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Admission ranges from $6 to $8, with group rates available. For reservations, call 298-1302. The Pages Lane Theatre is located at 292 E. Pages Lane, Centerville.

The theater will also open a new middle-of-the week production, shifting from "The Heather on the Hill" to . . .

- THE HEARING ON THE HILL, OR IS THAT A HILL OF BEANS I'M HEARING? is an audience participation mystery from the diabolical and mischievous minds of Bruce Craven and Sue Jarrard, both of whom have been involved in the many Hunt Mystery & Company dinner-theater whodunits.

Jarrard, who notes that this new piece is a parody of government goings-on in Washington, D.C., said prizes will be awarded to those who solve the crime.

All seats are $5.

Performances are Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. from Aug. 16 through Sept. 7 at the Pages Lane Theatre, Centerville. Reservations: 298-1302.

- GREATER TUNA, one of the classics of comedy theater, is scheduled for a limited run at the Draper Theater, 12366 S. 900 East.

The hilarious action takes place in the remote town of Tuna, Texas, where a seat-of-the-pants radio station reaches out with homespun news and anecdotes to the surrounding Greater Tuna area . . . hence the title.

Kyle Lewis is directing the show, and he's also half of the cast. Just two performers - Lewis and Tony Rich - portray 20 characters.

Although it's been done several times throughout the Wasatch Front, including a professional production starring C. Lynn Frost and Duane Stephens at Salt Lake Acting Company in March and April of 1993, producer Vanessa Nelson assures Draper patrons that this version has been cleaned up. The original version is sprinkled liberally with mild profanity and vulgarity.

Performances will be Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. from Aug. 19 through 29. Admission ranges from $3 to $7. For reservations, call 572-4144, or purchase tickets in advance from branches of Draper Bank.

- JUNGLE BOOK, adapted by Beverly Olsen from Rudyard Kipling's classic story, is opening Aug. 20 at the Terrace Plaza Playhouse in Ogden, where it will continue on Saturdays at noon through Oct. 29.
