Usually reliable sources say Michael Jackson is planning to make an album of songs that Elvis Presley made famous, now that the gloved one is married to the King's daughter, Lisa Marie.
"He's always wanted to do Elvis `covers,' and he figures now's the time for his own versions of songs Elvis made famous," sources say. What his bride's mother, actress Priscilla Presley, thinks about Jackson cashing in on his late father-in-law's posthumous popularity is not clear, but these sources say she isn't amused.
"She'll fight any attempt by Jackson to take over the Elvis empire," they say.
"But she really can't stand in the way. Most of the Elvis repertory was written by others. The few songs he wrote were sold years ago by his manager, Col. Tom Parker."
Priscilla Presley has successfully run Elvis Presley Enterprises since Elvis' death, even though Lisa Marie was given control of the estate when she turned 25 last year.
