It's got a slogan, a sky, a butte, a buffalo and a wheat sheaf. It's also got an award. North Dakota's info-packed license plate was voted best new plate of 1993 by the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association. "It's one of the plates that when you see it, you would just like to visit and see what it's all about," said Gary Kincade, the association's secretary-treasurer. More than 500 of the association's 2,600 members worldwide cast ballots in the contest. North Dakota got 189 votes. Indiana was second with 114 votes; Wyoming got 101. Other plates in order of finish were: Prince Edward Island; the Virgin Islands and Alaska (tie); California and Massachusetts (tie); Guam and Newfoundland (tie); and Louisiana.
