The changing of Sugarhouse Park from a beautiful serene family park into a commercial playground does not make sense.

An activities-based park that caters to softball and swimming interests would destroy the existent values which the park has to offer.Destruction of the trees, flowers, shrubs and lawn activities by substituting concrete structures, noisy ball fields and swimming with mainly a summer emphasis detracts from the overall value of the park as a year-round retreat. Activities such as jogging, picnicking, cross country skiing, sledding, Frisbee and bird watching will all suffer.

Introduction of vendors will detract from the legitimate businesses that already border the park and provide everything from fried chicken to hamburgers to ice cream. The last thing the park needs are commercial vendors selling junk food.

For over 30 years the park has served us well - particularly those of us who don't swim and don't play softball, who need to look at roses, birds, grass and trees in a quiet year-round setting.
