Princess Diana has held secret talks with veteran U.S. broadcaster Walter Cronkite to discuss arranging a television documentary about her life, Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper reported.

The Mail, quoting what it called friends of the princess, said the documentary would be her response to a 21/2-hour interview with Prince Charles by British journalist Jonathan Dimbleby broadcast two months ago.In the candid Dimbleby interview, Charles admitted adultery after the breakdown of his marriage to Diana.

The Mail said Diana believed her side of the story of the breakdown of what was originally billed as a fairytale marriage had yet to be told properly.

The talks with Cronkite took place recently aboard two yachts near Martha's Vineyard, said the newspaper.
