French jets fly over a staff flying French and U.S. flags during a commemorative ceremony at the St. Raphael war memorial in southern France Monday. The ceremony hailed the 50th anniversary of Operation Dragoon, the Allied invasion of occupied southern France during World War II. In other festivities, four U.S. paratroopers dropped into the Mediterranean and were picked up by French sailors. After changing into dry uniforms, the veterans paraded down the packed streets of Cavalaire.
