Brett Alvey crushed a two-run homer in the fifth inning to lead Larry H. Miller Toyota to a 3-0 victory over Scandia, Minn., Sunday night in the International Softball Congress World Fastpitch Tournament.
With the victory, Miller Toyota will play Baltimore's Class Walls, a 2-0 winner over the Long Beach Painters, Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. (MDT)."This should make my mom (Kay) happy," said Alvey about his towering home run, which went over the leftfield fence, breaking up a pitching duel between Miller Toyota's Peter Meredith and Scandia's Shane Bouman.
Meredith struck out 12 hitters and allowed only two hits. He gave up two walks.
Shane Bouman only gave up four hits to Miller Toyota.
Alvey, not only came through at the plate, but also in the field. Playing first base, Alvey turned a key double play in the third inning after Meredith gave up one of his two hits.
