MINI-MOUNTAIN

Ben Nevis, Great Britain's highest mountain, is no threat to Everest of Kilimanjaro. It is 4,406 feet in height, with a base circuference of about 24 miles.

The mountain, situated about five miles southeast of Fort William, does not rise to a peak. Its summit is a plateau of about 100 acres, where there is the ruin of an observatory used from 1881 to 1905.
