Ned Peter Madsen, 68, died August 13, 1994 in Sanpete Valley Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
Born May 7, 1926 in Manti, Utah to Nelson P. and Eliza Anderson Madsen. Married Juanita (Nita) Price March 25, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ned was a cattle rancher. Served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. Past president of the Utah Cattlemen's Assoc.; past president of Manti Cattlemen's Assoc.; served on the Manti City Council for eight years; Sanpete County commissioner for 10 years; served on state and local Forest Advisory Board; past commander of the American Legion Post 39 in Manti; chairman of the Sanpete County Fair Board for three years and was King Cowboy of 1992.Ned was instrumental in the installation of the pressurized irrigation system in Manti. His life was devoted to his family, friends and service to the public.
Survived by wife, Nita and two daughters, Lorraine Sorensen and Mrs. Phil (Pauline) Edmunds, both of Springville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Hatfield and one sister, Helen Farel.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 18, 1994 at 11 a.m., in the Manti LDS Stake Center, where friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery with military services under direction of Buchanan Mortuary.
