Melvin Edward Chabries, age 78, passed away Monday, August 15, 1994 at his home in Bountiful, Utah.

He was born May 17, 1916 in Bridal Veil, Oregon, to Steve and Mary Chabrajez. He married Maxine Westover, June 22, 1939 in Hollywood, California. The marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple, September 6, 1940. He graduated from El Segundo High School, El Segundo, California. Attended Metropolitan Business College and then worked for 37 years as an accountant for Chevron Oil Company, retiring in 1971. Mel spent his retirement caring for his family. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Cubmaster, Ward and Stake Financial Clerk and Aaronic Priesthood Advisor.Survived by his wife, Maxine, Bountiful; three sons and one daughter: Douglas Melvin, Woodland Hills, Utah; Michael Paul, Woodbury, Minnesota; Johnell Charlene, Woods Cross, Utah; and Stephen Ted, New Jersey; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, George, Rocklin, California.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18, 1994 at 2 p.m. in the Val Verda 3rd ward, 2633 South 50 West, Bountiful. Friends may call at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment - Lakeview Cemetery.
