Construction workers are pushing ahead with work on a new Ernst store at 3491 W. 3500 South that will be finished in early September and replace the existing store at 3749 S. 2700 West.
Doug Newell, vice president of real estate for the Seattle-based company, said he holds a long-term master lease on the existing store and doesn't know what will happen when the building becomes vacant.The new 60,000-square-foot store will have 35,000 items in building materials, plumbing supplies, lumber, paint and paint accessories, hand and power tools, lighting products, fertilizer, window treatments, wallpaper, kitchen cabinets and furniture.
A year-around Malmo nursery also will be featured in the new store that will allow customers to purchase plants at any time.
