Elizabeth Dalton, attorney, motivator and director of human resources for Nu Skin International, has been chosen to receive the 1994 Athena Award from the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce for her professional excellence and leadership within the community.

Dalton was chosen by the Utah State Bar Association as Most Distinguished Young Lawyer in 1991 for her pioneering effort in establishing divorce mediation in the state of Utah as an alternative to litigating divorce disputes. She is the author of "Healing Hearts," a parent's guide to helping children through divorce. She also acts as a court-appointed mediator in contested child custody cases. In 1993 a law creating a pilot program for child custody mediation in Utah County's 4th Judicial District Court was passed due primarily to Dalton's lobbying efforts.

In her position at Nu Skin International, Dalton has implemented a progressive family leave policy with a paid maternity benefit when many other companies are eliminating paid maternity leave. She is designing a child care and development center for Nu Skin employees and the community.

The Athena is a national award recognizing the valuable contribution women make in the community and in leadership positions.

The Chamber's Women's Business Network (formerly WIMCO) will present the award at noon Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Provo Park Hotel.
