SHARE HATCH’S GOLF EVENT FOR CHARITIES IS NEXT WEEK IN PARK CITY

The Utah Congressional Golf Challenge, sponsored by the Utah Families Foundation and hosted by Sen. Orrin G. Hatch, R-Utah, will be held in Park City Sunday through Tuesday, Aug. 21-23, at the Jeremy Golf and Country Club and Wasatch Mountain State Park.

Over the past three years, the golf challenge has donated $590,000 to charities throughout the state. The Utah Families Foundation has a mission to assist, financially and otherwise, Utah families and individuals who are parentless and those who face homelessness, poverty, unemployment, hunger, illness, abuse, hospitalization and cultural or educational illiteracy.This year the challenge will benefit the Children's Center, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Women in Jeopardy, Colleen Quigley Women's Center, Center for Women and Children in Crisis, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Utah, the Ronald McDonald House, The Caring Program, Your Community Connection in Ogden and Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse (Provo).

Related activities include a golf clinic for people with disabilities at noon Monday, Aug. 22, at the club, conducted by Dennis Walters, who before being paralyzed in a golf-cart accident was on his way to being a PGA touring professional. At a reception on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Steep's Club in the resort center, Herb Jefferies, Arte Johnson, Jim MacGeorge, Barbara McNair and Jerry Vale will perform.
